Readers, please note (Notice in Mainstream, December 2, 2017)

An article “Pimps and Procurers of Judiciary a threat to Indian Democracy†, written by A.K. Biswas, a retired IAS officer and former Vice-Chancellor, B.R. Ambedkar University, Muzaffarpur (Bihar), was published in the issue dated July 1, 2017 in this journal. The article, which drew attention to the larger issue of maladies affecting the judiciary, was based on reports and material in earlier publications. It was not directed towards Mr Rajendra Singh, the then District Judge, Lucknow (who has since retired), nor was it intended to bring disrepute to him or any other individual.
