All India March to Parliament by SUCI (C)

Friday 13 April 2012

Under the auspices of the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist), a massive People’s March to Parliament was held on March 14 in New Delhi with the participation of nearly one lakh people from all over the country.

Raising slogans demanding an end to all anti-people policies of the government and solutions for the tormenting conditions of people’s life due to back-breaking price-rise, limitless corruption etc. those who poured into New Delhi to participate in this protest rally congregated at the Ramlila Ground.

The protest march was taken out from the Ramlila Ground at 11 am and it culminated at 1 pm at Parliament Street (near Jantar Mantar) where a meeting took place. It was presided over by Krishna Chakravarthy, Polit-Bureau member of the SUCI( C), who pointed out that this largest ever rally in recent times in New Delhi by any Left party was giving vent to the people’s pressing demands. The tremendous response received in course of preparations clearly proved that people want a movement for solving their problems.

Provash Ghosh, General Secretary of the SUCI(C ), who was the main speaker on the occasion, said that confusions were being created by the ruling class and their henchmen that class rule and capitalism will not change. Exploding this myth Karl Marx basing on scientic analysis of the process of developement of human society, showed that capitalist society will eventually lead to socialist society and ultimately to communist society. Dealing on the conditions in our country he said that prices were soaring, so were crimes. Heart-rending incidents of peasant suicides had become so common that these were no more news today. Mind-boggling levels of corruption, especially at high places, had stunned and stupefied each and every decent man living in this country. He hailed several movements in India like the Anna Hazare movement and also the movements across the whole world including the Arab Spring and Occupy Wall Street.

Far from being just a formal one-day programme this protest march was the culmination of a countrywide extensive and intensive rallies held for the past several months which included thousands of public meetings.

A memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Office along with a big truckload of signatures numbering 3.57 crores. The memorandum was received by the Minister of State, V. Narayan-swamy. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was to meet the Polit-Bureau members of the SUCI(C ) on March 15 for a detailed discussion but that did not take place due to his prior commitments.
