Glaring Loopholes and the US Top Brass’ Lies

This tale seems to be getting layered. Murkier than one expected. And it seems all those wise heads that America can possibly boast off didn’t really bother to pay much attention to the glaring loopholes in those versions doing the rounds. No, just about these two words—‘Osama killed’—aren’t adequate for the natives, for America’s versions of that killing does not carry a sense of closure. Also, there are far too many twists and turns to it. And don’t overlook another basic fact—the numbers killed by American/NATO forces are far too many for the natives to sit shell-shocked.

In fact, even after the killing of Osama, those drone attacks continue, that pounding of the civilian population is still on. That wild chase continues, that hunt continues, that quest for expansion writ large even under the garbs. In fact, this week has exposed much beyond killings. Exposed are two unsettling realities—America’s hold on this entire region and air-space. With that its hold on the politicians. And with that entire craft of weaving tales to sway public sentiments or to set one against the other. Tucking away Rana and Headley in those safe folds, America comes up with one-sided versions, reeking of double-standards.

The obvious is rather obvious. Yet we seem glued to our television sets, gulping down each little detail of that killing. And, then, those offshoots and explanations. Seldom, very seldom, one hears the actual basic truth being uttered or those realities that could unfold in the years to come. Maybe a day could come when American planes could land on any marked rooftop and kill and then duly cart the dead remains to be buried or burnt! No, there wouldn’t be a soul to question or halt their operations.

IN fact just read Noam Chomsky’s latest piece (dated May 7, 2011) on this and let me quote from it:

“My reaction to Osama Bin Laden’s death: we might ask ourselves how we would be reacting if Iraqi commandos landed at George W. Bush’s compound, assassinated him, and dumped his body in the Atlantic…It’s increasingly clear that the operation was a planned assassination, multiply violating elementary norms of inter-national law. There appears to have been no attempt to apprehend the unarmed victim, as presumably could have been done by 80 commandos facing virtually no opposition—except, they claim, from his wife, who lunged towards them. In societies that profess some respect for law, suspects are apprehended and brought to fair trial. I stress ‘suspects’. In April 2002 the head of the FBI, Robert Mueller, informed the press that after the most intensive investi-gation in history, the FBI could say no more than that it ‘believed’ that the plot was hatched in Afghanistan though implemented in the UAE and Germany. What they only believed in April 2002, they obviously didn’t know eight months earlier, when Washington dismissed tentative offers by the Taliban (how serious, we do not know, because they were instantly dismissed) to extradite bin Laden if they were presented with evidence-which, as we soon learnt, Washington didn’t have. Thus Obama was simply lying when he said, in his White House statement, that ‘we quickly learned that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by Al-Qaeda’.”

Yes, it’s these lies of the top brass, the very rulers, that seem more hitting than any of the bullets fired by terrorists. For these men are supposed to be leaders, controlling the very order... Yet, see how disorderly gets the world order where the military might of America and its allies controls our existence. Yes, even our day-to-day existence is dependent on with this entire political web, which is gaining ground, unsettling even the innocents…
