Press Release

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (October 9, 2026):

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India has strongly condemned the repressive tactics of the BJP government to crush the democratic rights of people to protest.

CJP and all Left student youth organisations have declared that they will have peaceful demonstrations at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to demand the resignation of CEC. However, the Government of India and the Police authorities working in Delhi have denied permission for peaceful agitation. Not only this but the government has mobilised more than 50 thousand police persons to suppress the agitation. Similarly, students of various organisations, supporting the 10th October agitation of CJP at Jantar Mantar, are being prevented and detained and not allowed to reach Delhi many AISF and other organisation students travelling by Goa Express are detained at Itarsi railway station. This undemocratic act of the police and the government is strongly condemned by CPI. Similarly, various student leaders in different states are being detained and the Delhi offices of the student organisations are being surrounded by Police, this is highly objectionable. Protest peacefully is a democratic right of the people and to prevent them from exercising the same is a violation of Constitutional Rights of the people. And also, undemocratic act. Communist Party of India not only condemns this unconstitutional, undemocratic act but also appeals to the students and people to resist them by peaceful methods.
