Communist Party of India
Press Release
The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (June 26, 2026):
The FIR based on the SIT findings on the Ayodhya Ram Mandir embezzlement case is only the tip of the iceberg. The resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra are not enough. Their role, responsibility and possible complicity cannot be brushed aside. Registering cases against a few junior functionaries while shielding the senior RSS, BJP and VHP leadership is nothing but a cover-up masquerading as accountability.
An SIT reporting to the Ayodhya DM, who is himself an ex officio member of the Trust, cannot inspire public confidence. Such an arrangement is inherently compromised and incapable of uncovering the full truth. FIRs must also be registered against the senior functionaries of the Trust, whose accountability cannot end with resignations.
Fresh reports are emerging every day of devotees donating large quantities of gold, silver and cash without receiving receipts. The scam appears far bigger than what has surfaced so far. The faith of millions cannot be exploited and their offerings cannot be looted with impunity. The CPI reiterates its demand that the entire investigation must be handed over to an independent judicial body.
