This book is a compilation of articles written by Prof. P S Jayaramu, formerly Professor of Political science in Bangalore University. An ardent writer and a scholar of Political science and International relations, Professor Jayaramu has produced many students and has guided scholars, has been constantly motivating and writing articles in journals and books, which is considered as a bible to many of us teaching international relations. This book is a result of his scholarship and knowledge which consists of articles on state, national and International issues which undoubtedly reflects his birdsview on the current affairs.
When the political conditions world over seems to be grim and pathetic, post covid 19, and when we are in the midst of the war, reflections on international politics seems interesting and introspective. Though the articles are written at different points of time, they carry his perspective and have their relevance in present context.
Being a scholar of international relations and politics, Prof. Jayaramu has discussed on certain concerns and expressed it explicitly. His article on Israeli - Hamas war, is a pragmatic observation which reflects on the India’s response in extending support to Israel.
Another article that i personally felt interesting was on "The war on Ukraine : where is it heading towards? in which he has dealt at length regarding the consequences of Joe Biden’s visit to Kiev and has raised certain pertinent questions including the security of Ukraine and the role of NATO, the BALI SUMIT and India’s G20 Presidency, American foreign policy, Covid 19 and emerging International Balance of Power, . at the same time, he has also expressed his views on Indian foreign policy in his well substantiated articles. Several such international issues are dealt at length apart from national and regional issues.
In the section on National issues, his critical analysis on the first session of 18t Lok sabha mentions about the roe of both ruling party and the opposition and its takeaways, decoding the lok sabha elections verdict, the possible outcomes of elections 2024, which by and large reflects on Indian politics and political conditions, the role of majoritarian BJP and the challenges of opposition Congress leadership.
On the State politics, a critical analysis on Bihar elections, challenges faced by congress government in Karnataka, political leadership in Karnataka, NEP 2020 educational policy, the Siddaramaiah phenomena in Karnataka politics and many more such articles reflect the perception of Professor and his widely articulated analysis.
A must needed compilation of articles under one umbrella and i whole heartedly congratulate Prof. Jayaramu for taking such pains to contribute his knowledge to the subject.
This book is well curated and deserves to be known by every one who is interested in the current politics and by academic fraternity.
Finally, the book has been neatly brought out by Writers Choice Publication, New Delhi.
