Dear Sir:
Greetings! May we request the following piece of information from you, please.
In your personal meeting with President Vladimir Putin on August 14, 2023, you had said:
“I would like to draw your attention to Bangladesh. In autumn, we will be delivering fuel for the NPP there, so there will be one more country in the world producing nuclear power. In this sense, we maintain a very comfortable relationship with our partners in Bangladesh.”
Subsequently, the first shipment of Uranium fuel was sent from Russia in October 2023, and the first test-loading of dummy fuel into Unit 1 was conducted in September 2024. However, in December 2024, Bangladesh’s Anti-Corruption Commission initiated an investigation into allegations of corruption amounting to approximately $5 billion in the RNPP project.
As the world waits to hear more about this Bangladeshi inquiry and its eventual findings, we in India would like to know from you if any Indian political parties, individual politicians, central and state governments’ ministers, scientists, technocrats, bureaucrats, and/or others in India demanded and received kickbacks from any public or private agency in Russia with regards to the Koodankulam nuclear power plants, units 1 to 6. It is quite pertinent to mention here that the Units 1 and 2 of KKNPP have been beset with all kinds of technical inadequacies, operational difficulties, frequent shut downs, unreliable power generation and so forth. If any cuts or commissions, or kickbacks were given to anyone in India, would you please furnish complete details about it all.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Cordially,
S. P. Udayakumar, Ph.D.
