Are you dreaming of a white Christmas;
the singing of carols
and the Christmas tree,
draped in mistletoe
with gifts strung in golden filigree?

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas;
yonder, children lie listless,
with vacant eyes,
wondering what ahead, still lies;
whatever happened to mom and dad;
nothing you can do
can make them less sad.
The bullets, tanks and drones
rain on relentlessly;
in this age we thought
there would be no war,
but this horror,
even our glazed eyes
can take no more.
We need to take a sober view
of what we are doing to humanity
and if the earth
can withstand this lack of sanity.

Are you dreaming of a white Christmas;
Christ lies under the rubble,
asking why on his birthplace
we have unleashed war
and unrelenting trouble.
He pleads from his crucifix:
O Lord!
Forgive them, for they know not what they do,
forgive them, let them start anew.
Let the wise women and men
bring gifts of peace and joy,
and all the world’s children sing,
then heaven and nature will rejoice
with the sound of peace and mirth
on good earth.
