AIFRTE condemns the Delhi Police raid at the residence of Dipak Dholakia, senior activist and journalist, supposedly under "some ongoing UAPA case" which remained unrevealed.

Special Branch of Delhi Police raided the house of the 75-year-old Dipak Dholakia on the 3rd October 2023 from 6.30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Dipak Dholakia, a well- known journalist and respected civil liberties activist, retired as Chief of Gujarati NEWS from Akashwani Bhawan. He is associated with many democratic organisations such as the All India Forum for Right To Education (AIFRTE) of which he is a Secretariat member. He is Convener of the Indian Community of Activist Network (I-CAN), and advisor to the Indian Public Sector Employees Federation (IPSEF).

A seven-member team of Delhi Police officials, out of which five were in plain clothes, did not specify which case they were involving Mr. Dholakia in. They took away his mobile, laptop and some papers, which include some documents of IPSEF and some published essays.

AIFRTE strongly condemns this intimidation and harassment of Mr. Dholakia by the Delhi Police working directly under the home ministry of the union government.

We demand that the personal belongings (lap-top and cell phone) of Mr. Dholakia which were confiscated by the police be returned to him immediately.

AIFRTE condemns the shameful the attempt of the present regime to stifle all dissenting voices.

Prof. Jagmohan Singh (Chairperson) Dr. Prasad V. (Organizing Secretary)
