In the second last para of the editorial “On Parliament’s Monsoon Session” in Mainstream (September 4, 2010) the observation of Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, the Deputy Leader of the RJD in the Lok Sabha, should read:

In the circumstances, it seems fairly clear that the two so-called national parties have turned Indian politics into a cricket game in which only the Congress bats and BJP bowls. This has left the others with no option but to field. The great pity for the bowling side is that the pitch is a batting paradise!

In the first para of page 7, column one, line seven in Mainstream (August 7, 2010) should read: “...Communists from the Congress organisation in...”

In the same para, line 19 should read: “...of the past into the straitjacket of a modern...”

In the second para of page 7, column two, line one (in the same article) should read: “The political folktale of those days was that...”

In the first para of page 9, column two, line five (in the same article) should read: “...hopeless minority and are laughed at’.”

In the third para of page 9, column two, line one (in the same article) should read: “In 1944 when Gandhiji came out of prison, the...”
