Ilina Sen an activist, sociologist, and academic who worked for over thirty years with her husband, the pediatrician Binayak Sen, with people in Chhattisgarh’s tribal heartland. She worked with Shankar Guha Niyogi at the Chhattisgarh Mukti Morcha, and fought against the imprisonment of Binayak Sen, who was charged in 2007 with sedition and criminal conspiracy under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967, charges which carry a penalty of lifetime imprisonment.
