During the last couple of weeks cases are being filed on regular basis against each other among the political opponent and so-called social activists.

Firstly, the MUDA land scam case against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was promptly taken for hearing by the Karnataka High Court when the State Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot ordered prosecution of Siddaramaiah and the plea by the C M of quashing the Governor’s order was rejected by the court.

Secondly, immediate hearing was taken up by the Enforcement Directorate (E D) in a case of complaint of money laundering under the PMLA by the same complainant against Siddaramaiah in some old case.

Then came a surprise announcement by Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi, surrendering the 14 land sites and MUDA promptly cancelling the order of allotment of the said sites. Some sources said that this step was taken on the basis of legal advice given to the C M and his wife.

But this act of Parvathi and MUDA immediately cancelling the allotment order did not bring any relief to them. The hearing in the case continues on the excuse by citing an example that if a thief returns the stolen property he is not absolved automatically of the crime he had committed.

The purpose of hurry on the part of the authorities appears to convict the Chief Minister and destabilise the Congress Govt in the State as soon as possible.

In the meantime, to appear fare, the police filed an FIR against former Chief Minister of Karnataka and presently Union Minister for Steel and Heavy Industries and JDS leader H D Kumaraswamy for demanding Rs 50 crores from a realter for Chanpatna bypoll.

The complaint has been made by one Vijay Tata who has claimed that he has been with JDS since 2018, worked as the vice president of party’s social media wing. He further claimed he spent crores of rupees when Kumarswamy’s son Nikhil contested parliamentary election from Mandya in 2019 . He said now that the Chanpatna by-election taking place, Kumaraswamy has been pressuring him to give him Rs 50 crores towards election expenses. Police have charged H D Kumaraswamy under section 308(2) (extortion) and 451(2) (criminal intimidation
