To,
Respected Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji,
Date: 19th May, 2024
Shri Ashwini Vaishnav, Minister for Railways, Government of India
I write to you to bring your notice towards a matter for importance concerning the safety and security of railway employees. People and organisations concerned with the developments have brought to my attention several incidents of misbehaviour and physical harm being inflicted on railways employees, particularly the ticket checking staff. Ordinary trains are crowded and people and railway employees both are finding it difficult to navigate the situation. This is resulting in unruly behaviour with ticket checking staff and many a times they are being harmed physically as well, creating serious concerns for their safety, security and well-being.
Railway employees, particularly the ticket checking staff, are doing their physically demanding jobs with long working hours and constant travel. Their safety and security should be prioritised, while also addressing the structural issues of Southern Railways by increasing the number of trains and allied infrastructure. To address the issue concerning the safety of ticket checking staff, I request to provide police or RPF protection to ticket checking staffs while on the job to safeguard them against rude behaviour and physical attacks. I hope this issue concerning thousands of staffers will find your urgent attention and redressal.
Yours Sincerely,
(Binoy Viswam)
