Double Speak by PM Narendra Modi | JP Gadkari

Hardly 48 hours after his so-called "clarification" during an interview with Network 18, and his solemn "vow" where he said "Main Hindu, Musalman nahi karunga yeh Mera sankalp hai, (I won’t play Hindu Muslim card; that is my vow)", Prime Minister Narendra Modi while attacking the Congress has again accused that the party had drawn a plan to "spend 15% of the budget on Muslims" while addressing an election rally in Maharashtra. He said the Congress has a plan to have two separate budgets, one for Muslims and the other for Hindus.

Of course, it is not a surprise that PM has indulged in double speak again. In fact, during the ongoing election campaign, it has been his main theme. He has been attacking the minority community for every ill the country has suffered during the last 500 years.

Modi has invented many lies during his vicious campaign against the Congress party, particularly after that party came out with its election manifesto. The memory of his comments on taking away of all the properties of Hindus including the "Mangalsutra" and distributing it among the Muslims is still fresh in the minds of everyone. And who can forget his most low-level speech in Gujarat where he said that if a Hindu family has two buffaloes, one will be taken away and given to Muslims.

So the question is why did he find it necessary to give an assurance and take a vow to say that he will never "get drawn in Hindu-Muslim politics" and then break his own vow within less than 48 hours?

It was after the third round of polling he realised that things were not going as per his plan and that his recent statements might have antagonised a large section of the minority, he made this damage control move. But as they say, old habits die hard, and he could not hold back his outburst. That is why in less than 48 hours he himself has broken his vow.

But that is not the only reason for him to act against his vow. It shows that his desperation level has gone up so high, after getting the intelligence reports as to which way the wind is blowing. So without realising that it is further going to damage his image, he resorted to his communal agenda while attacking his political adversary.

All calculations, including that of psephologists and election experts, now show that BJP is going to end up getting only about 200 to 220 seats, much below its claim of "400 paar" and will not get a majority to form the Govt. Hence this desperate blow-up.

And now comes the big bang "interview of the decade" with Prime Minister Narendra Modi by a group of four journalists on behalf of Aaj Tak, Hindi. Ofcourse the whole thing was stage-managed as usual.

Modi charged the media being "biased" towards him as a reason behind his not holding even a single press conference as Prime Minister during the last ten years; denied other charges like unemployment and his Govt failure to create new jobs; claiming that the economy was sound and India’s international prestige going up during his tenure. He, however, avoided giving a direct reply to a question asked about his reference to "mangalsutra" and people having more children.

One can expect more and more such desperate and controversial outbursts from PM Modi as we progress towards the seventh and final phase of the present poll schedule.
