Press Release

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India issued the following statement today (November 19, 2021):

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India congratulates the farmers and their organisations for their historic victory which they achieved through a prolonged and determined struggle supported by all sections of society. Their relentless struggle forced the government to repeal farm laws, but it must be ensured that the laws are repealed by Parliament in its coming winter session itself.

Prime minister should answer why the government took so long for this announcement. The struggle has already claimed lives of 700 plus farmers and led to the brutality of Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.

Farmers of the country have shown that the united struggle against the government can force it to yield and strengthen democracy.

It is time to learn from this struggle and intensify our fight against Labour Codes, Electricity Bill 2021 and CAA and NRC.

We should protect the Republic and the Constitutional values at all cost. The Party expresses sincere gratitude to the agitating farmers, youth, students, agricultural labourers, women and working classes who supported the farmers protests.
Several state governments also passed the resolution against the farm laws.
Prime minister and government should also consider other demands of the farmers like repeal of Electricity Bill 2021, legal protection to MSP and repeal of Labour Codes. A suitable compensation should be given to the families of 700 plus farmers who died in the agitation.

Office Secretary
