Subject: Regarding the 12 colleges 100% funded by the Delhi Government
Dear Shri Kejriwal,
We are writing to convey the anguish and anger of the teachers of Delhi University over the obdurate stance taken by you and your Government in not releasing grants to the 12 DU Colleges that are 100% funded by Delhi Government. In several colleges, employees have not got salaries for more than 4-6 months and are pushed to desperation. The DUTA has been writing to you for more than a year now communicating its dismay at the manner in which your government is treating the employees by linking release of grants and payment of salaries, pension, medical bills and other dues of employees with extraneous reasons that are neither the making of the employees nor in their control. It is also not acceptable that the Government expects institutions to pay salaries from other resources than the grant-in-aid that is the responsibility of the Government. It is extremely unfortunate that the actions of the Government has hit at the basic right to livelihood of employees.
Further, the Government’s action of unilaterally announcing the merger of College of Art with Ambedkar University, Delhi in complete violation of statutory provisions is also not acceptable.
Teachers have reached the end of their tether with this inhuman treatment which is pushing many to the point of desperation. The adamant position of the Government has left us with no other option but to call for a complete shut-down of the University till such time as the crisis is not resolved.
We hope that you will respond adequately to the gravity of the situation and take steps for immediate release of grants.
We also request for an urgent meeting on this matter.
Yours sincerely
Rajib Ray, President
Rajinder Singh, Secretary
